De geslaagde waren: Freddy Shams, Irfan Dzemidzic, Zohra Rahini, Sandro Landveld, Jair Klaverweide, Berfin Goktekin, Zephaniah Landveld, Sammy Shams, Edgar Caufijn, Arnel Dzemidzic, Joshua Klaverweide, Simla Goktekin.
Met dank aan alle examinatoren: Rob Zwartjes, Farly Muller, Martijn Fikkert, Ronald Willems, Remon Hartkamp en Dave Pieplebosch

November 22 Internship in Terheijden. O.l.v. Con Voermans, the 1st to 3rd Dan program is creatively and open to all degrees.
Successful TOtaal Karate internship in Terheijden
Karate-do SAN (Roosendaal) teacher Con Voermans (Etten-Leur) was in Terheijden last Wednesday to give an internship with regard to the DAN degree exam of the TOtaal Karate. TOTAL Karate was developed by Con at the request of former Karate Bond Nederland Chairman Herman van der Meulen.
Both his form of competition and the DAN exam program ensure that participants have to get out of their comfort zone, so they develop, but also secure, techniques. In the competition form, they must remain sharp until the last seconds. With the DAN program, the participants are given more “freedom” to fill in, it is their exam, which they show in all the creative forms that they can think of themselves.
The internship program included some topics from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd DAN TO language Karate exam. This in-depth internship was at the request of Jan and Kevin Vervoort (Terheijden). The 1st DAN exam is all about the right basis and reacting from a great distance, the so-called O-Waza in Japanese. The 2nd DAN exam the visible deepening of the basics, use of techniques with support from your own needs and physical skills. Also the use of counter-attacks from a short distance, the so-called KO-Waza in Japanese. The 3rd DAN exam, natural movement and being able to use techniques effectively and efficiently from a reaction distance. Response distance is different for everyone, based on the COPING principle, Fight, Flight and Freeze.
More than 20 participants of various graduations followed the physically and mentally demanding, yet humorous training. Con was therefore immediately invited again by Jan and Kevin, then it will be Kata and Bunkai on the program.
Total karate has its basis in combat, or kumite and that requires a strong base, Kata and Bunkai take care of that.

Karate-do SAN (Roosendaal) teacher Con Voermans (Etten-Leur) was in Den Bosch last Wednesday to take higher DAN exams for the first time. 3 people entered for their 2nd DAN TOTAL Karate and 2 people entered for their 3rd DAN TOTAL Karate. Roeland de Rijk (Roosendaal), Manar Alyouncha (den Bosch) and Rob Hulsen (Rosmalen) passed their 2nd DAN TOtaal Karate. Marc Declercq from Belgium (Ghent) was the first Belgian to pass a TOtaal DAN exam and Peter Vergunst (Amsterdam) passed their 3rd DAN TOtaal Karate. Peter is the son of the late Piet Vergunst, this man gave Con Voermans refereeing in the early 90s, it was a great honor for Con to award the 3rd DAN to Peter.

TOtaal Karate Internship in Ghent Belgium
Karate-do SAN (Roosendaal) teacher Con Voermans (Etten-Leur) has given a very successful and busy karate internship in Belgium in the TOtaal karate that he developed himself. He was invited by one of his Belgian karate / referee friend Marc De Clerck. The central theme of the TOtaal karate was central, techniques should be effective, efficient and creative. The basis is the same for everyone, but when one has to apply the techniques, there is no general basis, because every person is built differently, reacts differently.
For Marc it was also his test exam 3rd Dan TOtaal Karate, he will take his 3rd Dan exam on November 6 in den Bosch.
TOTAL Karate (Sö gö Ryu in Japanese) was co-developed by Con at the request of former Vrz of the KBN (Karate Bond Nederland) Herman van der Meulen.
It is physically and mentally challenging, the participants have to show more techniques, both on Dan exams and on the competition system, Sö gö ichi Shobu a variant of the WKF system, and it is also conditionally heavier. By training in this way you become better in the normal WKF system. This is also a nice addition for Full Contact karatekas, as they now have to show more techniques, which also makes them more complete in their own system.
The developments within karate country are numerous, in France the FFKDA they have 7 different karate forms in their federation. In Italy they already experiment with free style and music Kata within their union. Karate Combat (KC) is making great progress, so it is good to see that the WCF and KC respect each other.
TOtaal Karate the great seasoning during the Open Zeeland Karate Championships.
Karate-do SAN (Roosendaal) teacher Con Voermans (Etten-Leur) led the 12th Zeeland Zeeland karate championship as Chief Referee last Saturday in Zeeland.
During the open Zeeland championships of gym Zanshin led by Ronald Willems (Vlissingen) TOtaal karate was again on the (KBN) Mats …
Kata TOtaal ladies was won by Danique van Limbeek, of Budo Life Style from Amsterdam. May van Dorst was 2nd from Karate-do SAN, from Roosendaal and 3rd was Britt van der Bosse from Malawauw from Middelburg.
Men’s TOTAL Kumite was won by Antonio Guequirre from Zanshin from Vlissingen. 2nd was Jaïro Restrepo of Budosport Heerle from Heerle, his teacher Roger Meertens can be rightly proud of his student!
In 2016 Con received a request from, among others, Oud Vrz vd KBN Herman van der Meulen, Carmalita Reeberg, François van Langevelde and Jan Scholten Albers, to think along about how to make Dutch karate better mentally, tactically, here he has the TOtaal competition system designed for.
TOTAL Karate is a competition system which is written in the WKF guideline. but then with some adjustments. so that the participants are better trained tactically and mentally
The French WKF organization, the FFKDA, was the inspiration for Con. How come the French have dominated for more than 25 years? All competition systems are run under the flag of the FFKDA. WKF, Ippon Shobu, Karate Jitsu, Karate mix, Karate Contact, Kyokushin and even Pro Fight. And all driven by a board! It is not without reason that the French WKF fighters are among the best in the world.
From June 2016, the TOtaal will run on various OAV of the KBN with the permission of the KBN board.

26 May 2019, 1st DAN TOtaaL Karate exam KBN in Harderwijk very successful
Karate-do SAN (Roosendaal) teacher Con Voermans (Etten-Leur) took his first official DAN exam at the Karate Bond Nederland (KBN) in Harderwijk last Sunday.
Throughout the year there are TOtaal Karate internships held in Rayon South of the Karate Bond Nederland (KBN). Vlissingen at Zanshin, Roosendaal at Karate-do SAN, Oss at Karate association Oss and den Bosch at Strive and Struggle. Then in Rayon Center of the KBN, Zaandam near Choku and finally in Rayon North of the KBN, Leeuwarden near Tensho.
Now for some it was the icing on the cake. The first KBN TOTAL Karate exam was held in a very warm sports hall! Con received help from various examiners.
He had a luxury problem himself, he had to disappoint several other examiners, who had to wait for the next time.
Sjoerd de Haan from Drachten, Erik Stok and Remon Hartkamp from Leeuwarden and Roeland de Rijk from Roosendaal helped Con with the physically and mentally demanding exam.
All 8 candidates passed away, tired and satisfied. T. de Vries and A. Bruinsma from Leeuwarden both from Tensho, A. van Suffelen, E. Ceylan, L Carfora and H. Ergun from Zaandam, R. Kölker from Rotterdam all from Choku and F. de Rijk from Roosendaal from Karate- do SAN.
From Shotokan (semi) and Kyokushin (full) Con has developed the TOtaal karate a hybrid form between sport and tradition, semi and full contact. From his vision as a karate teacher, World Referee but also as a military man, he found the current karate to be too much stuck in fixed patterns, which are no longer effective, both on the mat and for self-defense. Back to the roots, back to the BUDO! Back to the fight, from there working on dealing with resistance, perseverance and collection, pushing boundaries playfully. All this in a safe and responsible way, because good shaping has nothing to do with suffering, but with conscious learning!
For now higher DAN exams for TOtaal Karate Nederland are on the program, which will be held on October 2 in den Bosch.
The TOtaal Karate Nederland is making good progress, and is growing steadily, 15 schools are already participating, 1 from Belgium and 1 from Germany.
Special mention, former KBN chairman David Roovers, who had 6th DAN Gensai Ryu for years, now received his 6th DAN from the KBN from the KBN, congratulations David

TOtaal karate internships around (your) Netherlands completed
Karate-do SAN (Roosendaal) teacher Con Voermans (Etten-Leur) gave his last internships last week in preparation for the National 1st DAN exam TOtaal Karate for the KBN held on May 26 in Harderwijk. Also for higher DAN exams for TOtaal Karate Nederland held on October 2 in den Bosch.
Back to the roots, back to the fight, from there working on dealing with resistance, perseverance and collection, pushing boundaries playfully. All this in a safe and responsible way, because good shaping has nothing to do with suffering, but with conscious learning!
At the beginning of the year, TOtaal Karate internships were held in Rayon South of the Karate Bond Nederland (KBN).
The turnout was very busy with the latter, which made it particularly fun and interesting that several teachers were present from outside the KBN, with all of them working together on the mat! That’s the way it is supposed to be! After the training Con expresses his hope that there will someday be an association where all the karate of the Netherlands can find their place.
The TOtaal Karate Nederland is making good progress, and is growing steadily, 14 schools are already participating, 1 from Belgium and 1 from Germany.
TOtaal karate internship in Nyenrode, also start of Open Style Platform
Karate-do SAN (Roosendaal) teacher Con Voermans (Etten-Leur) was invited last week by Herman van der Meulen, former chairman of the Karate Bond Nederland (KBN), to provide a karate internship at Nyenrode together with René Oerlemans (Haarlem). Central to this internship was an introduction to a “new” form of karate, daring, collaboration and perseverance. From Shotokan (semi) and Kyokushin (full) Con has developed the TOtaal karate a hybrid form between sport and tradition, semi and full contact. René developed the Sport karate from Wado.
The international students were able to roll up their sleeves because both gentlemen had scheduled training in which all elements of both TOtaal and Sport karate were incorporated. Various reaction, speed, recovery exercises in combination with punch, kick and deflections and evasion exercises were central to that program.
Afterwards, René and Con literally joined hands, from now on actively working together, while retaining their own identity. Called Open Style Platform under the banner. Why this step, both men could not find that within the KBN there is only talk about Budo and Sport platforms. Because both Sports and TOTAL Karate have a lot of Budo in them, but they both go in a “new” direction, the direction of innovation. However, both do not throw away their roots. Because as people sometimes hear, OLD is not MISTAKE. However, standing still for too long can cause loss of level and even loss of members.
Both men were immediately polled after the training for a new date, which they are happy to accept! Special thanks to Roeland de Rijk (Roosendaal) who went along to assist with the internship.
The TOtaal Karate Nederland is making good progress, and is growing steadily, 14 schools are already participating, 1 from Belgium and 1 from Germany.

1st official Dojo TOtaal Karate Dan exam with special promotions
Karate do SAN (Roosendaal) Teacher Con from Etten Leur took his first exam last Tuesday according to the TOtaal karate principle. TOtaal bridges the gap between semi and full, competition and realism. 3 fellow referees assisted Con with this exam. Chris Overbeeke, Dave Piepelenbos and Marcel Both.
In addition to the normal Kyu (color) degree exams, there were also three candidates for their first exam DAN TOtaal. On successful completion of this test exam they would receive their Dojo Black Belt and Dojo 1st Dan Degree diploma. All 3 passed with flying colors. Alex van Suffelen from Zeewolde, Leroy Velzel from Zaandam and Fabienne de Rijk from Roosendaal. All 3 can now prepare for the official exam of the KBN, which will most likely be held on May 22 in Harderwijk.
Chris Overbeeke received an Honorary 2nd Dan Dojo TOtaal due to, among other things, a loyal KBN member for 42 years and a KBN referee for more than 30 years! Cor de Ruijter, almost 89 years of age, received his Honorary 4th Dan Dojo TOtaal, among other things because he was a loyal member of Karate-do SAN for 24 years. Martin Michels received his Honorary 5th Dan Dojo TOtaal for his work for the KBN (board member, referee) and Karate-do SAN (board member and trainer).
The following SAN members also passed their Kyu degree: Jibbe Ittmann, May van Dorst, Timothy de Wild, Jayden van Aert, Marly Maatjes, Norayr Wanis, Kyan van Poeijer, Lars Roovers, Michon Kosten, Anneloes de Bruin, Jeroen van Happeren, Frank Hamers, Tim Reijns. Congratulations and see you next year, OSU
Con is now busy getting schools to participate, but also thinking about the next steps, including 2nd to 6th DAN requirements, more tournaments on So-go Shobu rules, or Total rules. For now, 9 schools have already agreed to support him. A number of schools from outside the KBN have already expressed their interest, there is even interest from Belgium, exciting times.
